Ronald H. Filler
Ronald H. Filler is a 1970 graduate of UIUC; he also holds a J.D. (with honors) from George Washington University and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University. While Mr. Filler has been Senior Vice President and Director of Institutional Futures Administration at Lehman Brothers in New York since 1993, he began his career as an attorney in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC in 1973. He remained at the SEC until he accepted a position in private practice in Moses Gibbons Abramson & Fox in Chicago in 1976. In 1977 he became the Director of Managed Futures and Associate Counsel for ContiCommodity Services Inc., a Futures Commission Merchant in Chicago. Mr. Filler became the Managing Partner for Filler Weiner Zaner & Associates, a futures commission merchant and commodity pool operator in Chicago in 1985. He moved to Vedder Price Kaufman & Kammholz in 1985, where he was a partner, the senior futures lawyer and a member of the Executive Committee.
Mr. Filler has been active in a variety of professional organizations. He has been President (1998 2000), Secretary (1995-1998) and Member of the Executive Committee (1980 Present), Futures Industry Associations Law and Compliance Division. He has also been the past Co-Chairman of the ABAs Sub-Committee of Futures Commission Merchants. Filler has also been active in legal education. He was the Director and Founder of Commodities Law Institute (1978 1997), Member of the Board of Overseers (1980 Present) and Adjunct Professor of Law (1977 1993) at Chicago Kent College of Law, Chicago, Illinois. He also served as Adjunct Professor of Law, Brooklyn Law School (1993 1996). Finally, he has spoken at numerous industry and legal seminars in the area of futures and securities law and business, and has published written numerous articles in the fields of futures, securities and financial services.
